Publication Ethical Statements

It is necessary to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer. Our ethic statements are based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Duties of Authors

The authors must ensure their work is entirely original. An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work. Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should respect the revision suggestions from peer reviewers and editors. The exclusive copyright, licensing rights for utilization, and sole agency rights of the paper shall be granted to the editorial department of Journal of Hydroecology.

Duties of Reviewers

The paper must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor. Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments. Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Referees should avoid manuscripts with conflicts of interest.

Duties of Editors

Editors will evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual merit, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors. Strictly enforce relevant national laws and regulations, adhere to academic publishing ethics and norms. Handle all submissions in a timely and impartial manner, respecting authors' research achievements and reviewers' opinions. Maintain confidentiality regarding the information of authors and reviewers. Avoid favoritism in manuscript handling.
